Single hung window with lower sash open on a residential exterior elevation

Single Hung Windows

A dependable and economical window style. The lower sash opens for ventilation while the upper remains fixed, giving you a clean look with fewer moving parts.

Single hung windows operate like a double hung with one key difference: only the lower sash moves, while the upper remains fixed in place. This simplifies the mechanism and reduces potential points of wear over time, making single hung windows a reliable option for lower-floor rooms where top-sash ventilation is less of a priority. The fixed upper sash also provides a marginally tighter air seal than a fully operable double hung. Available through Marvin Elevate and Norwood across a range of frame materials and finishes.
