Replacing the windows and doors in an existing home is a different job from building new. The openings are already there, the finishes are already there, and the right product is the one that works with the house as it stands.
Ultimate Windows, Doors & More supplies premium replacement and renovation windows and doors across Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Eastern Ontario, with installation by our own teams in Charlottetown, Halifax, Ottawa and Saint John.
Replacement Or Renovation?
The two words describe different scopes of work, and the difference decides which products fit.
Replacement keeps the existing openings. New units go into the existing frames or rough openings with minimal disruption to siding, trim and interior finishes. It is the right approach when the openings still work but the windows no longer do.
Renovation changes the openings. Windows are resized, relocated or added while finishes are already off for other work, which opens up sizes, configurations and glazing that a straight replacement cannot reach.
Many projects are part of each, and both are worth planning together.

When to Replace
Some symptoms mean a window is due. Others are normal.
-
Condensation between the panes, which points to a failed seal
-
Drafts you can feel with the window closed
-
Sashes that stick, sag or no longer lock
-
Water staining or soft wood at the sill and jamb
-
Heating costs climbing with no other explanation
Condensation on the inside surface of the glass is usually a humidity question rather than a window failure, and finish wear on an otherwise sound unit is often repairable.
What We Handle
Product selection matched to the age, construction and exposure of the house. Measurements to confirm what fits the existing openings. Custom sizing, so non-standard openings are reproduced rather than reframed. Glazing specified elevation by elevation. Phasing and written specification, so nothing is ambiguous at install.
Installation is handled by our own teams in P.E.I., Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ottawa. In Mississauga and Montreal we supply the products and refer installers we work with regularly.
We carry Marvin, Norwood, Otiima, NanaWall, Extreme, Mastergrain, Portatec and TruStile.

FAQ
Replacement windows go into existing openings with minimal disruption to the surrounding finishes. Renovation work changes the openings themselves, whether that means resizing, relocating or adding them. Renovation opens up more options and involves more trades.
No. Phasing by elevation or by floor is common and it spreads the cost. Settle the product line at the start so later phases match the first.
Yes. The products we carry are made to order, so openings are reproduced as they are rather than reframed to suit a stock size.
Often, though not always. It improves comfort and reduces noise, and the benefit depends on exposure, glazing area and how the rest of the building envelope performs. It is worth deciding elevation by elevation rather than house-wide.
