A large-scale coastal build in Stanhope, PEI, where Marvin Elevate Fiberglass windows and doors handle salt air, wind, and hard winters without compromise.

Overlooking the Bay

Stanhope sits along PEI's North Shore, where the land hooks around into a bay, and the Gulf Shore House sits right on the water’s edge. The rear window wall is a highlight with views across the water to the North Shore dunes, one of PEI’s most recognizable stretches of coastline.

Built by Craftsman Construction, the interior delivers everything you’d expect. Exposed timber trusses in the great room, a full-height stone fireplace, concrete-topped island in the kitchen, herringbone tile at the entry, reclaimed wood in the mudroom. At the back, a covered outdoor area with its own fireplace sits above a landscaped backyard and pool area.

The Marvin Elevate collection runs throughout. On a coastal build in PEI, Elevate is the right fit with its warm wood interiors and durable Ultrex fiberglass exteriors that can stand up to the coastal conditions for decades to come.

The Window Wall & Sliding Patio Door

A full-height window wall of fixed Elevate glazing runs across the back of the great room.

Off the great room, a sliding door opens to a terrace that steps down towards the landscaped pool area. It works well with the rest of the window wall, not drawing too much attention, while providing crucial access to the outdoors.

Swinging Glass Door to the Covered Porch

The covered porch on the side of the home has its own fireplace, making it a proper outdoor room rather than just a pass-through. A swinging glass door connects it to the interior, and because it's fully glazed, the visual connection to the outside stays intact even when it's closed.

Divided Lites

The Elevate windows throughout the home carry a 4-pane divided lite pattern, giving most windows a 2-over-2 look. On some of the taller window configurations, a smaller window sits above with its own 2-panel divided lite, creating a stacked arrangement that feels right at home against the cedar shingle exterior. It's a detail that draws from tradition, while staying clean and modern on the interior side.

Front Entry Door

The main entry is a custom black entry door with double sidelights. A straightforward, well-proportioned setup that sets the right tone before you're even inside. The sidelights provide a sneak peek at what lies beyond the home, and the black finish ties into the exterior hardware and finish details running throughout.

Mudroom Entry

The mudroom entry is fully glazed too: a glass door with fixed glass panels on either side, set in a breezeway between the home and garage. It’s no less stunning than the front, full-height glass looking straight out over the bay.

The Gulf Shore House is a good example of what the Elevate line does on a coastal build: enough character to hold up against a cedar shingle exterior and a water view, and enough durability to handle what harsh Canadian winters demand. It's a house built to be used, and the windows and doors are built the same way.
