The Headland House: A Landmark Home at the Mouth of the Harbour

A landmark waterfront home at the tip of the Charlottetown Harbour, where the Marvin Ultimate collection matches the detail and scale of everything around it.

The Headland House sits at the tip of a curved stretch of shoreline in Stratford, with almost 180 degrees of open water in front of it. Looking straight out the back, you’re facing the mouth of the Charlottetown Harbour, with sailing and recreational boat traffic moving through all summer long. It’s a position on the water that most sites don’t get.
Built by Craftsman Construction with interiors by 3Sixty Interior Design and cabinetry by Joe Dunphy Custom Woodworking, the home is as detailed inside as its setting is dramatic outside. Vaulted spaces, warm finishes, and rooms built for entertaining. The interior is ornate and carefully considered at every turn.
The Marvin Ultimate collection runs throughout, paired with Cape Cod shingles on the siding and roof. A home covered in arched windows, divided lites, and custom transoms needs a line that can actually deliver all of that to spec — and the Ultimate line is built for exactly that kind of order.

The Front Elevation
The street-facing side of the Headland House sets the tone right away. The main windows feature divided lites, and each is paired with a transom above that carries the same divided lite pattern. There's a lot of detail working together here, and it holds because the Marvin Ultimate line is made for this kind of spec. Each window is built to order, the divided lites precisely proportioned to the frame. The result is a jaw-dropping front elevation, rich with unique detailing and thoughtful design elements.

The Rear Elevation
When you come around to the harbour side, the glazing changes. The main windows drop the divided lites to give the water as much priority as possible. But the transoms above keep their divided lites, carrying the ornate character of the front elevation around the home without breaking the view. It's a considered detail that makes the rear feel just as finished as the front, without giving anything up to the harbour.

Arched Windows
Throughout the home, arched windows appear as both standalone windows and as transoms above the main casements and fixed glazing. It's something the Marvin Ultimate collection handles well: specialty shapes built to the same standard as everything else in the line, not an afterthought. This home is filled with traditional character, and the arched windows feel like a natural part of the composition.

Front Entry Door
The entry is one of the strongest moments in the house. A solid wood front door with generous glass panels and divided lites sits between double sidelights, with an arched window above. Standing at the door, you can see clear through the home to the water at the back. It's the kind of entry that tells you what the house is about before you've stepped inside: detailed, well-built, and oriented entirely toward the view.

Cape Cod Shingles
The exterior of the Headland House is clad in Cape Cod shingles, with the roof done in a complementary tone from the same line. It's a combination that suits a waterfront property; the shingles weather naturally over time, which works well on a site this close to the sea. The roof and siding working in the same material family, along with the decorative gable trusses, gives the exterior a cohesion that holds all the details together.
The Headland House is a different kind of project: a big site, a lot of detail, and a build that needed products to match. Cape Cod Siding and the Marvin Ultimate line delivered on all of it.
